Baracca Backpacker Aurigeno
The Mediterranean climate and Italian lifestyle makes Ticino one of the most popular regions in Switzerland.Come here to take a 'vacation from your vacation'. Enjoy yourselves in our unique, lush gardens, next to wooden
sculptures and even a waterfall. There are also wonderful views to the historical church and the surrounding mountains.
Use our fully equipped kitchen facilities and try some of our fresh herbs from the garden. We provide many different kinds of herbs free of charge.
For more activities check our huge information-board. It has the best map in the area and shows multiple hiking, biking and swimming suggestions. More then 700 km of hiking trails await you and we like to help to find the right
one for your own personal level. Rent a bike (CHF 10.- per day) to explore the area and to reach incredible bathing spots on the Maggia River. The river banks offer anything from small gorges to deep and emerald green waterpools with sandy beaches.
Even more refreshing after a long hike is a jump into the waterpool from the waterfall with its crystal-clear water just a 10 min. walk from the Hostel.

Location
by train:
At the train station in Locarno catch bus no. 10 in the direction of Vallemaggia. It takes about approx 25 min. on the bus to get up the Valley. Please get off at 'Ronchini'. Cross the main road and walk up the road approx. 50 m, turn left and follow the hostel signs into the forest.Cross the suspension bridge, turn right and keep on walking. It takes about 15 min. To reach Baracca Backpacker on foot. It's above the church of Aurigeno. (approx. 200m from the centre of the village)
by car:
From the Highway no. 2 (dir. Germany or Italy), take exit: "Bellinzona
sud" (Locarno / Lago Maggiore), drive to Locarno (through the tunnel),approx.
500m. after the tunnel, take exit: Vallemaggia / Centovalli and keep on driving
approx. 15 min., then turn left "Aurigeno / Moghegno". Follow the signpost
"Backpacker", you can find us above the church of Aurigeno.
