John Bowman points out that the Hilton Athens is already a quite old hotel, as it was opened in the early 1960s. However, after a recent renovation in 2001, the hotel looked "spanking-new" and "fresh" (at the time of the review, 2005). The "glitzy" lobby extends to coffee shops, restaurants and shops. The guest rooms come with views towards the Acropolis or the "hills outside Athens" and the "international Hilton" design, with some "Greek touches". The bathrooms are "large". The hotel was "recently renovated for the Olympics" and the rooftop bar Galaxy is "one of the top nighttime hotspots" in the city.
