[martanikolova, 31/03/2012] This is a very interesting place with historical significance and fascinating views. You cannot imagine what it is like up there.
The fortress is located near Asenovgrad in the Rodopi mountain. We reached the entrance by car and then walked a few minutes to reach the fortress itself, since it is a bit high up the mountain. It is very beautiful with stunning views. A few years have passed since I was there, but I still remember the feeling. If you go there you should be careful, because it is not very well safeguarded and it is really high.
If you are near Asenovgrad or the near towns, definit

[Dalka, 01/02/2010] My husband has some relatives in Asenovgrad, and we decded to pay them a visit last summer. They told us we would spend the whole weekend just visiting some very nice places, but I could not bellieve there is such place as Belintash.
It was then when I realized this was the acient village of the Bessi that lived in the old places in Bulgaria. Those were people, who were led by the God Dionisios and produced a lot of wine. And nowadays, there is one of the most famous wineries that produce a special type of wine.

[vald, 04/04/2009] The Assen's Fortress is on the edge of a high rock, just above the main road from Plovdiv to Smolyan. It is very impressive, when you look from the road and it is unaccessible from this side. There is a small church, the oldest in Bulgaria, just on the edge.
There is a small fork on the road, which drives to the Fortress. In front of the entrance there is a parking for some cars. Usually in holidays there is not enough places and many cars parks on the road, which is very narrow, so in the end of the road be careful.
If you are expecting to see Fortress, there is no such. Only the ruins of a

[irenauleva, 12/03/2009] Assen's fortress is about 3 km. from Asenovgrad. The road to get there is a good one. Put on sneakers, I mean you have to walk a lot, to climb to be more particular. It's Assen's fortress, but you won't see any fortress there, only rouins and a church. The woman, there was a woman in the churce, told us it is the oldest church in Bulgaria. The nature arround is marvelous, from here you can feel the beauty of Rodopy mountin.
You don't have to pay any fee to look around, but the woman in the church will try to ask some. We paid, but I'm not sure if it's a legal fee,or just a way for this woman to have
