Torre Maizza is an ancient garrison, part of a defence line that crossed all of Apulia, from the Gargano promontory to “finibus terrae” as Santa Maria di Leuca was called. During the sixteenth century it served as a watchtower against the raids of Ottoman and Saracen Turks, then it became a working farm and a little village, in fact you can still find the old Mill, houses for the workers of the farm and courtyards used to tender the animals and it has now been converted into a refined, luxury 5-star resort.
