[BlueStar, 30/06/2011] Amritsar Gurdwara (Golden Temple) Is amazing. One of the greatest sites I have ever seen. 100% worth going to see. everyone is really friendly aswell. outside the temple is really busy, but inside is peaceful. alot to do and see in amritsar aswell with alot of history.
[koshkha, 31/12/2008] The daily flag lowering ceremony at the Wagah border crossing between India and Pakistan is one of the most bizarre displays of mutual dislike combined with pure theatre and a great example of nationalism and pride. Every day, come rain or shine, war or peace, the border guards of India and Pakistan go through the motions of closing the gates that join the two countries, under the watchful eyes and with the loud support of thousands of spectators.
Location
The closest town to Wagah from the Indian side is Amritsar and from the Pakistan side is probably Lahore. We visited the border whilst

[koshkha, 30/12/2008] The Maharajah Ranjit Singh Panorama is undoubtedly one of the strangest tourist attractions that I've ever visited and I can fairly say I've not come across anything similar anywhere else although I believe there is another panorama museum somewhere in India. It really is a truly bizarre place and one that is most likely only visited by people like my husband and me who accidentally booked too many days in Amritsar and subsequently did practically everything that was listed in the 2 pages of the Lonely Planet guide.

[koshkha, 03/04/2008] When planning our trip to India in November 2007, there was one attraction that was set in stone and that was the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Ever since I read a review in a guidebook to India saying that Golden Temple made the Taj Mahal look a tad on the tacky side, I was hooked. Regardless of where else we were to go, Amritsar was a 100% sure thing.
I was so fixated on seeing the temple that it had blinded me to the task of finding out what else there was to do in Amritsar. I had in my mind an image of a leafy garden city abounding in beauty and basking in the golden glow of its most famou
