Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument that is characterised by the curricular setting of large upright stones. It is believed that these stones were erected around 2200BC, but the surrounding earthworks are much older and probably date from around 3100BC. The site has been added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites and it is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Stonehenge itself is managed by English Heritage although the surrounding area is managed by the National Trust. The opening times are: Mid March - end of May from 9.30am until 6pm 1st June until end of August - 9am until 7pm 1st September until mid October - 9.30am until 6pm Mid October until mid March - 9.30 am until 4pm The admission charges are: Adult - £6.30 (9.45 Euros) Child - £3.20 (4.8 Euros) Concession - £4.70 (7 Euros) Family ticket - £16.80 (25 Euros) A family ticket is valid for 2 adults and up to 3 children English Heritage and National Trust members - Free |
