Every year on the last Thursday of July residents and visitors gather at Rydal Park to the north of the town for the Lakeland Games. The gathering has been an annual phenomenon for over 200 years. Events include a Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling championship, Fell racing, races on foot and bicycle and hound trails. There are marquees, craft exhibits, trade stalls, childrens entertainments and a beer tent. The 2007 Sports Thursday July 26th 2007 10am - 5pm Admission: Adult: £4 Child: £2 |
