The popular cheese market and many nice shops are within walking distance of the hotel. The monument in which Grand Hotel Alkmaar is situated, has a neo gothic style. Until 1916 this building was used as a post office and since a renovation it offers stylish hotel rooms. In the rooms the original features have been combined with contemporary facilities such as a flatscreen television, jacuzzi and duo showers. You can find the Grand Hotel along the Gedempte Nieuwesloot in the centre of Alkmaar, near the shops and the cheese market. From Alkmaar you can make nice trips to the beach or to Amsterdam.
