Valley of the Temples

Classified as a World Heritage Site in 1997, the Valley of the Temples is the site of ancient temples from around 425B.C. These temples are aligned along what once was the city wall of Akragas Agrigentum at the edge of a precipice and are lit at night. They are enroute to the Regional Archeological Museum and can be viewed daily from 08h30 till 19h00.

Regional Archeological Museum

Housed in a modern building adjacent to the 14th-century Convent of San Nicola (which serves as a library and conference venue), the Archaeological Museum contains exhibits which date from prehistoric to Roman times. These displays include statues, gargoyles, drawings, pottery and a collection of Greek, Roman and Medieval coins. Closed on Mondays and with extended hours till 17h00 on Fridays, the normal hours of operation are from 09h00 till 13h00.
