I just spent one week at Ayia Napa's Napa Plaza Hotel, located in the city center of Ayia Napa, the party hotspot of Cyprus. Mid April, the week before Easter, the season had not really started yet. Most Hotels, Bars and Restaurants where starting to prepare for summer. Napa Plaza also just opened up on April 1st.
The hotel has undergone a complete renovation two years ago. Resulting is a very clean and outstanding middle class hotel with astounding ambience. The style of Lobby and Lounge is very stylish, though minimalistic. Restaurants and Bars are in nice condition, next to the big and beautiful pool there is the pool bar with terrasse, which is beautyfully illuminated at night.
The whole hotel including all rooms is fully air conditioned, which must be very comfortable in hot summer months. Now in April, outside Temperature was around 22 degrees during day, though hot in the sun, but with cloudy heaven sometimes really cool. The air condition in rooms can also be used as heating, which might be necessary during spring and autumn.
There are standard, superior, and family rooms available. And obviously suites too. Standard rooms are big enough, furnished in dark colours with many mirrors. Superior Rooms are a little bigger and offer some extra service, as a mini-bar fridge for own use, coffee- and tea-making facilities, along with a fruit basket and welcome wine. I cannot say anything on family rooms or suits. I would't recommend a third bed in standard rooms though. All rooms have a balcony.
The pool is nice, but with cold unheated water, though the water will heat up in the summer sun. Sunbeds and Umbrellas are available all around the pool. Towels to use on the pool or on the beach are available in the hotel. Ask for a Towel-Card at the reception.
Guest structure during my stay: English, Germans and Swiss people. Couples, friends as well as families with small children. There are special facilities for small kids, as a baby-pool and baby-chairs at the restaurant.
Food: I had half-board, but for my next stay I would reduce to breakfast only, as there are so many restaurants around.
Breakfast is mainly english-style as well as continental. All food is served at buffet. For dinner they always offered a variety of different food. Salad bar was nice, as well as the dessert buffet, but watch out, seemed to be calory-bombs! Dinner in general was ok, but not splendid.
The personnel is very kind and willing to help in all matters. Check-in and out was very easy. All speak English well enough to answer all of your questions.
There are sports facilities as a fitness-room as well as a tennis-court on the site, but I did not check them out. The beach is only a few minutes walk away and very beautyful. On the way there, you can get all the things you need for a day on the beach. Sunbeds and Umbrellas can be rent for 1,25 each for the whole day.
You also have a mini market on site, which seems a little expencive though.
I can highly recommend the Napa Plaza.
