Furthermore the area of Messara offers many great options for acitivties to its visitors. Phaestos (Festos or Phaistos), the second most important Minoan Palace after Knossos, the scenic village of Matala with its historical caves that used to be inhabited by the “hippies” during the 70’s and the archaeological sites of Gortys, Kommos and Agia Triada are only a few of them.
Another suggestion for a sightseeing trip would be Spili, a nearby village with many lakes, waterfalls and an awesome nature or Zaros with its famous lake which provides the water for one of the best known bottled mineral water brands in Greece.
