A couple of people had recommended Caffe Buongiorno to me, yet on my first visit I was not very impressed. I gave them another try when I heard they had won local business awards and again after reading an article in the local newspaper recommending them. I thought that maybe I had just chosen meals that weren't so good the previous times and so gave them more chance. However, I am afraid that I am still not overly impressed by their food.
I can't fault the service. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They will seat you and bring you menus, but you need to go to the counter to order and pay for your meals, quoting the table number. We have always been asked if we want the children's meals bringing out straight away or with the adults' meals. I like this policy as I am well aware that very young children struggle to wait for their food.
Most of the time, I have found the food either unmemorable, or memorable because it was bland and nearly tasteless. That's not to say it is awful, but if I just wanted sustenance without the enjoyment, I could get it cheaper elsewhere; McDonalds for instance. So far my husband is the only person to have managed to choose a good dish. He ordered a pizza off the specials board one time and that was very good. The topping of tiger king prawns was plentiful, of good quality and it was spiced to give it a slight kick. If only the rest of the dishes came up to that. I don't think I can put the Quality of the ingredients into question, just the taste of the end product.
The restaurant itself is light and airy feeling, with floor to ceiling windows running across the front. There is also an outside eating area for the warmer weather. The dining area is clean, tidy and modern, as are the toilets.
The prices are what I would call slightly above average. The meals are around the $20 mark although most of them are over rather than under $20. I personally don't like to be paying above $20 unless I think it's worth it and unfortunately I don't think most of these meals are worth it. Pizzas can work out a bit cheaper as they come in 3 sizes, however, most adults would need the largest size and, as you've probably guessed, they come in at $21 and up! In my experience of local restaurants, children's meals tend to be around $6-$8, but here they are $9.90.
Location wise it is fairly easy to find and parking is plentiful as it uses the Tea Tree Plus parking. There are steps leading up the the entrance and outdoor eating area, so probably not too ideal for wheelchair users.
If you like bland food, then you would probably love this restaurant. The service is very good and the restaurant appealing. I, however, have run out of chances for it. That pizza, which was on the specials board, probably won't be available next time anyway.
