[11/07/2007] The article describes the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa as a "traditional three-story manor house" standing on "3.2 hectares (8 acres) of landscaped grounds". It is situated at the western end of Aberdeen and is "less than a half-hour from the airport". The author refers to it as a "deluxe hotel" and one which is "superior to all others in the area".
Inside the hotel there are "oriental rugs, placed on stone floors" and "tartan sofas". These are accompanied by a "scattering of antiques". The guest rooms are described as "rather spacious" and furnished in "Chippendale and reproduction pieces, with armchairs and desks". There are also a "host of extras such as fresh milk in the mini bar".
At breakfast guests can sample "Aberdeen rowies, a local specialty, made with butter". In the Conservatory restaurant one can dine on "regional dishes like Highland lamb and fresh Scottish salmon".
An abundance of beverages can be sampled in the library lounge where you can "choose from more than 130 scotches, 500 wines, and 70 cognacs".
Frommers allocates a three star rating to the hotel.
