Detailed review by MariaTeixeira
I just came back from a short trip to La Guarda - Spain, where I stayed at the Hotel now known as Hotel Vila Da Guarda. This hotel used to be a family run business that was separated a few months ago. They were all family and the hotel was composed by two distinct buildings. The old building going by the name of Hotel Bruselas and the new building known now by Hotel Vila Da Guarda.
I stayed in the Hotel Vila Da Guarda owned by Nair and Carlos, a great and I mean great couple. I have been all over the world and have encountered a few nice people during my travels, but was amazed that there could be still even greater and nicer people in this sometimes unforgiveable world.
The rooms were clean, decorated with taste and care for their customers, the breakfast buffet had everything we can ask for to start the day. Not to mention the great Spanish croissants (sorry French people, but the Spanish can beat you in croissant making. Yours are also good but not as good).
They have fully equipped apartments for those who prefer to cook or have bigger families. I made a promise to go back in September to spend a full month. A promise I intend to keep because I am now part of the family. That is the way they treat you, like one of the family. You actually feel at home.
I had enough of unpersonal hotels where you are one more number on their list and you feel like you are just what you can pay for. In this hotel you can bet that you mean more then that.
If you are looking for a great small town by the sea, with great food and a hotel right in the center of town and just 2 minutes walk from the ocean, this is the place to go.
